- Enhance and improve the quality of the company’s products by establishing, maintaining, and optimizing an effective quality management system, assuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements and the standards of excellence on which the LA Darling brand has been built.
- Implement problem solving tools, prevention methods, quality-at-the-source, and continual improvement techniques such as NPI (new product introduction), CO (change order), incoming inspection process, NCR (nonconforming reporting), and SPC (statistical process control).
- Implement the performance measurements necessary to effectively evaluate organizational performance and trends in product quality, customer satisfaction and the cost of poor quality. Use the results of performance evaluation to target improvement efforts.
- Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects.
- Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents, and reports.
- Participate and coordinate internal and external quality audits.
- Function as a liaison between sourcing, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers, resolving quality issues related to parts and components process quality, in and outside of the USA.
- Develop positive relationships and work closely with strategic sourcing to on-board and manage new and existing suppliers, leading qualification process and on-going surveillance.
- Provide supplier quality functional and cross-functional leadership, training, and mentoring.
- Maintain a corrective action system to analyze and correct nonconforming conditions and complaints
- Investigate all customer complaints and interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
- Compile, write and deliver training material on quality standards and activities
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or relevant area (or Associate degree in these fields plus minimum 4 years industrial experience).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an operational, lean, or quality role in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with quality improvement tools and techniques.
- Experience conducting and/or supporting internal and external quality audits.
- Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
