SUMMARY/OVERVIEWThis position is directly responsible for overseeing the operations of a construction site, from planning to completion. The Site Superintendent is responsible for daily scheduling, supervising all activities and tasks, and ensuring the safety and compliance of the site. Site superintendents oversee the construction process and are responsible for overall construction activities within the established design, budget and scheduling guidelines.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inspection of Contractor or (Sub) Contract operations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain healthy relationships with our internal and external clients, including representatives of the VA Hospitals.
  • Develop and maintain site logistics plan, in coordination with Project Managers.
  • Conduct quality safety inspections.
  • Take on the role of Site Safety while on the project.
  • Coordinate site testing and inspection efforts.
  • Monitor costs, including labor time and material.
  • Manage employees schedules.
  • Prepare and submit Daily Reports to the VA.
  • Attend and participate in all project meetings, including subcontractor meetings.
  • Conduct weekly safety Meetings (Toolbox Talks).
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Community College, Trade School or Bachelor s degree in related field preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) years experience in a superintendent role in commercial construction
  • Ten (10) years of industry experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Familiar with Pro-core or other types of construction software programs, desirable.
  • Experience working with the Veterans Affairs Hospitals, or on Government Projects.
  • General Contractor (GC) License and Construction Quality Management (CQM) certification preferred.
  • Prior military experience preferred
  • Familiarity with requirements of drawings and specifications and with terms and conditions of Project Contracts, Subcontracts and Purchase Orders.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good math/accounting skills.
  • Strong management skills (able to manage multiple crews on multiple projects).
  • Strong ability to read drawings and specifications.
  • Delegates work appropriately to Site Supervisors.
  • Strong decision making/problem solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, schedules and have strong decision-making skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance on job site.
  • Ability to supervise multiple trades and maintain quality control of varied government construction projects per plans and specifications provided.
