- Inspection of Contractor or (Sub) Contract operations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain healthy relationships with our internal and external clients, including representatives of the VA Hospitals.
- Develop and maintain site logistics plan, in coordination with Project Managers.
- Conduct quality safety inspections.
- Take on the role of Site Safety while on the project.
- Coordinate site testing and inspection efforts.
- Monitor costs, including labor time and material.
- Manage employees schedules.
- Prepare and submit Daily Reports to the VA.
- Attend and participate in all project meetings, including subcontractor meetings.
- Conduct weekly safety Meetings (Toolbox Talks).
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Community College, Trade School or Bachelor s degree in related field preferred.
- Minimum ten (10) years experience in a superintendent role in commercial construction
- Ten (10) years of industry experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Familiar with Pro-core or other types of construction software programs, desirable.
- Experience working with the Veterans Affairs Hospitals, or on Government Projects.
- General Contractor (GC) License and Construction Quality Management (CQM) certification preferred.
- Prior military experience preferred
- Familiarity with requirements of drawings and specifications and with terms and conditions of Project Contracts, Subcontracts and Purchase Orders.
- OSHA 30-hour certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good math/accounting skills.
- Strong management skills (able to manage multiple crews on multiple projects).
- Strong ability to read drawings and specifications.
- Delegates work appropriately to Site Supervisors.
- Strong decision making/problem solving skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Must be a self-starter.
- Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, schedules and have strong decision-making skills.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance on job site.
- Ability to supervise multiple trades and maintain quality control of varied government construction projects per plans and specifications provided.
