Interns work on hardware engineering assignments guided by technical mentors and participate in professional development activities.Our interns work on challenging projects that are directly linked to the success of the business. Their work can be found in a broad range of exciting technological challenges.
Previous interns have solved challenges for GE HealthCare including:
  • Investigation and improvement to thermal management in X-ray and CT detectors
  • Integration of electronic sensing for predictive maintenance
  • Implementation of transient impact analysis to better understand wear and tear on medical devices in the field
Job DescriptionResponsibilities:As an EEDP Hardware intern, you will receive a summer project that pertains to different parts of the business at GE HealthCare. Assignments may include:Power electronicsEmbedded systemsRF designElectronic schematic and layoutMechanical design utilizing CreoRapid prototypingDesign analysis (FEA and CFD)Thermal managementReliability engineeringDesign verificationBasic Qualifications:Current undergraduate student continuing in an accredited degree program after summer 2026; limited to individuals continuing to pursue an undergraduate or technical master’s degree after the summer of 2026;Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering (with a focus on hardware) or equivalent degreeExcellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple termsDemonstrated analytical ability and technical competency in Hardware engineering areasStrong initiative with the ability to work independently and in teamsProven leadership skills and/or experienceWilling to relocate to greater Milwaukee, WI area or Aurora, OH; relocation assistance and housing stipend availableAble to work for a minimum of 10 weeksPreferred Qualifications:A prior internship or co-op with hardware and/or design experienceOverall GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale)Passion for a career in healthcare technologyAdditional InformationLegal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
