In this strategic role, you will set the vision for the team, drive business development through proposal writing, cultivate and strengthen client relationships, and lead a multidisciplinary environmental team located throughout the United States.   • Drive organizational growth by leading complex environmental and brownfield initiatives from inception to completion, aligning project outcomes with long-term business objectives.
  • Shape team structures and resource strategies to optimize performance, balance workloads nationally, and cultivate high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Champion a culture of quality and compliance, establishing rigorous standards and governance frameworks to meet or exceed regulatory expectations.
  • Expand market presence through targeted business development, strategic partnerships, and deepened client relationships across public and private sectors.
  • Position the organization as an industry leader through high-visibility representation at conferences, public forums, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Work with Ayres strategic growth specialists to secure competitive advantage by developing strategic bids, winning proposals, and successful grant applications.
  • Advance integrated solutions by bridging environmental science with planning, engineering, and design disciplines, delivering outcomes that address community, economic, and ecological goals.
  • Foster innovation in project delivery methods, tools, and collaboration platforms to enhance efficiency, scalability, and client satisfaction.
  • Direct regulatory engagement strategies with federal, state, and local agencies to ensure alignment, manage risk, and protect organizational reputation.
  • Guide strategic oversight of environmental due diligence, site remediation, and risk assessment programs to mitigate client and project liabilities.
  • Align operational resources, technology investments, and process improvements with strategic priorities to drive sustainable growth.
  • Manage 3-5 Unit Leaders to help them grow and mentor staff across multiple locations.
  • Maintain robust governance and documentation frameworks to support transparency, accountability, and long-term institutional knowledge.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, Geology, Engineering, Planning, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in environmental/brownfield consulting, including team supervision.
  • Experience managing and implementing Phase I & II ESAs, remedial action plans, and regulatory coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (RCRA, CERCLA, NEPA, etc.) and safety protocols.
  • Willingness to travel (8–12 overnight trips/quarter), plus routine day travel.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Comfortable with hybrid or in-office work. Must be able to work from one of our key office locations: Fort Collins, CO; Denver, CO; Tampa, FL; Green Bay, WI; Eau Claire, WI; Cheyenne, WY; Madison, WI.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Environmental or project management certifications (PE, PG, PMP, CHMM).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and staff across offices nationwide.
  • Business development experience, including client relationship management.
  • Experience mentoring and training junior staff.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in tools such as Microsoft Office, GIS, databases, and environmental reporting software.
  • Experience with funding and grant programs (EPA Brownfields, state/local).
