Position SummaryThe Program Specialist, Senior & Ambassador is a key member of the Girl Experience & Program team, responsible for facilitating the delivery of high-quality, engaging, and mission-aligned Girl Scout experiences that support girl retention and volunteer readiness. This role focuses on designated Girl Scout levels (Senior: 9th – 10th grade; Ambassador: 11th – 12th grade) and ensures all program offerings are developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and aligned with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE). Program Specialists collaborate with volunteers, internal departments, and external partners to bring the Girl Scout program to life across the council.Essential Responsibilities/Activities
  • Provide level specific support to adults (troop leaders, service unit volunteers, etc.) delivering the Girl Scout program to girls through consistent communication, regional meetings, trainings, and events. (25%)
  • Serve as a liaison and content expert to build the capacity of volunteers, volunteer committees, and service units, supporting their success and confidence in the delivery of the GSLE and Girls Scouts' National Program. Provides support for all relevant Girl Scouts' Awards and Recognitions (Gold Award, Leadership, Faith, etc.), including promotion, ongoing support for girls, parents, and volunteers, and recognition for those awards. Acts as the staff liaison to the Girl Scout Gold Award Support Team. (25%)
  • Develop user-friendly resources for volunteers that guide them to implement the GSLE for 9th – 12th grade, and maximize on resources and opportunities available through the council and national organization. (15%)
  • Help bridge Senior and Ambassador troops and their families into long-term participation and the next program level by demonstrating value and benefits of sustained involvement. Support girl and adult retention by fostering a strong sense of connection and value through Girl Scout experiences. (10%)
  • Support Service Unit area events as needed. (5%)
  • Stays abreast of all program pillar opportunities within the local council and national organization. (5%)
  • Maintain accurate documentation, manage budgets, and collect program data to assess impact and drive continuous improvement. (5%)
  • Work cross-departmentally to align with membership recruitment and growth, product program implementation, and other council priorities. (5%)
  • Performs other duties as necessary or assigned. (5%)
Qualifications
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in youth development, program planning, volunteer management, education, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with the designated age group.
  • Comfort with public speaking, facilitation, and engaging diverse groups.
  • Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, organize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage competing demands.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and sound decision-making.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service to volunteers, members, and parents, with the ability to build effective working relationships, respond to needs, and resolve issues or conflict with professionalism and empathy
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work and thorough followthrough.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Salesforce, Qualtrics, and Canva experience is helpful.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Travel throughout council jurisdiction up to 25% of the time.
  • Licensed and insured California driver; must pass background screening including driving.
  • Active participation in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.
  • Willingness to accept the beliefs and principles of the Girl Scout Movement and acceptance of the relevant and compelling benefits of Girl Scouting.
  • Girl Scouts experience is a plus.
  • Bilingual ability is a plus.
