- International Code Council Residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner within 1 year of hire.
- International Code Council Commercial Building Plans Examiner within 1 year of hire.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or authorities, or members of the local business community.
- Bilingual is a plus
- Knowledge of and ability to use written reference material for Code, standards, and references.
- Knowledge of basic drafting skills.
- Knowledge of basic construction standards.
- Knowledge of basic governmental functions and limitations.
- Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
- Ability to operate computers for data entry and word processing.
- Ability to operate highly technical computer applications, such as GIS or CAD.
- Ability to operate computers and other basic office equipment.
- Ability to put the needs of citizens first and dedicate their decision making and actions to the ideal that Town Employees exist to serve the public.
- Coordinates the requirements of other Departments, various in-house construction disciplines and clerical procedures to facilitate efficient and effective plan review services.
- Monitors the progress of permitted projects for coordination, quality control, and document review.
- Reviews construction documents to verify compliance with applicable Town Ordinances.
- Responds to inquiries and provides information to builders, engineers, contractors, architects and the general public concerning submittal requirements and code and permit regulations at the counter and over the phone, providing excellent customer service.
- Interprets codes and city ordinances for staff and general public, as needed.
- Provides information to the general public regarding the requirements and policies of the Town.
- Collaborates with the other inspectors, departments and agencies as required to ensure compliance with codes.
- Oversees Commercial and Residential Building Plans intake, Review and Permitting.
- Oversees Sign Review and Permitting.
- Assists with commercial roofing and permitting.
- Prepares for and attends meeting, when needed.
- Provides recommendations and/or options to the Building Official for code interpretations.
- Coordinates with inspection and plan review staff to ensure consistency in the application of code requirements and established turn-around times.
- Creates and maintains strong relationships with personnel, other city departments, citizens, contractors and elected officials.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
