The test team’s job is to provide crucial test data for us as we evaluate new and revised products before they go to market. The successful candidate will develop test plans, procedures, processes for all our new development products, as well as refresh those of our legacy products and systems. This individual will develop, grow, and execute world-class testing of our entire product portfolio. Automating much of that testing will also be of critical interest.Specifically, this role will:Design and Develop Test Plans: Create comprehensive test plans and test cases based on software requirements and technical specifications for spectral and photonic systems, light sources, and fiber optics.Execute Tests: Leverage internal resources as needed to perform manual and automated testing to ensure the functionality, reliability, and performance of spectroscopy software applications. Work closely with design engineering teams across disciplines to design and build electro-opto-mechanical test setups.Identify and Report Bugs: Document and report software, firmware, electrical, or opto-mechanical defects, inconsistencies, and issues, and collaborate with developers to resolve them.Automate Testing Procedures: Develop and maintain automated test scripts to improve testing efficiency and coverage.Participate in Design Reviews: Provide feedback on software design and requirements to identify potential issues early in the development process.Post-Release Testing: Conduct post-release testing to ensure that software updates and patches meet quality standards.Evaluate Testing Tools, hardware and software methods: Assess and implement new testing tools and methodologies to enhance the testing process.Prepare Reports: Generate detailed reports on testing activities, findings, and quality metrics to inform stakeholders.Project Management: Estimate work effort and scheduling in support of on-going new product development that pertains to the Test Engineering group.Evaluate improvements to methodologies of testing and reporting.Keep track of group achievements and develop and implement objectives that align with company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).ABOUT THE CANDIDATEOur ideal candidate brings a broad engineering background and should possess:Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Optics, or other engineering field.
