- Conduct market research, develop sourcing strategies, prepare RFI/RFP/Bids, negotiate contracts, and launch agreements.
- Present contract strategies and award recommendations to internal stakeholders, including HealthTrust Senior Leaders and Functional Team members (finance, legal, clinical, portfolio specialists).
- Present strategies and final award recommendations to customer-led Advisory Boards, including groups of physicians/clinicians, supply chain executives, and non-clinical subject matter experts.
- Identify potential risks, challenges, and opportunities within the category.
- Understand member needs and requirements to develop contracting strategies that mitigate risks and maximize outcomes.
- Formulate and articulate a clear vision for the strategy, adapting as necessary throughout the sourcing process.
- Align customer stakeholders (clinicians, supply chain, physicians, executives) with the strategy.
- Independently plan and execute project timelines for assigned categories.
- Maintain accurate contracting work plans and details in the Contract Lifecycle Management system.
- Translate objectives into project planning priorities, manage work plans and timelines for multiple projects, and finalize negotiations within designated timeframes.
- Understand supplier dynamics, including ownership, organizational structure, key contacts, product/service offerings, market share, and historical performance.
- Analyze supplier information such as manufacturing locations, raw materials, future product pipelines, and financial reports.
- Understand category aspects, including product features, comparisons, operational impact, future pipelines, FDA filings, cost drivers, and market dynamics.
- Negotiate key contract terms, including pricing, termination rights, indemnification, market competitive pricing, failure to supply remedies, liabilities, confidentiality, supplier performance obligations, information security, and intellectual property rights.
- Supplier and Customer Relationship Management:
- Oversee supplier relationships during the sourcing process and participate in supplier business reviews.
- Build strong relationships with senior-level supplier contacts.
- Build strong customer relationships through frequent interactions at all levels, including executive.
- Possess strong analytical skills to create and interpret complex financial models.
- Facilitate conversations with internal functional team during project kick-off to gather feedback, opinions, and alignment of resource needs to meet contracting initiative timelines.
- Communication of bid process, negotiation status, agreement on terms, financial proposal concerns and other matters with supplier and internal team.
- Engage customers through one-on-one conversations (with account team) to articulate business strategy and resolve customer specific issues/concerns with contracting strategy or outcome.
- Interface with key supply chain executives and end-users in a live environment presenting and/or gaining commitment (advisory boards and supply chain board).
- Capable of securing desired outcomes through persuasion and influence.
- Bachelor’s degree (Supply Chain, Business, Finance)
- 5+ years of strategic strategic sourcing and contract negotiations - full life cycle
- Healthcare supply chain operations is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure while displaying a high level of professionalism, comprehend, and interpret complex instructions, proposals, and contract language, and identify problems independently and demonstrate creativity in developing alternative solutions and recommendations.
