GENERAL DESCRIPTIONTyonek Native Corporation is seeking an experienced Application and Database Administrator to join ourInformation Technology team. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the administration,maintenance, and optimization of enterprise applications and databases that support corporate- and program-level operations. This includes ensuring the availability, security, and performance of business-critical systems,as well as supporting internal users with application access, configuration, and troubleshooting.The candidate will collaborate with IT team members, including developers and support staff, to ensureseamless integration between applications and data sources, and to implement improvements that enhanceefficiency, data integrity, and user experience across the organization.DUTIES
Manage and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases across development, testing, and production environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Configure, monitor, and maintain database servers and related systems, including backups, performance tuning, and disaster recovery processes.
Apply security patches, updates, and service packs regularly to database and application environments to ensure compliance, integrity, and system security.
Monitor both database and application performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure high availability and minimal disruption to end users.
Administer enterprise applications by managing user access, permissions, configurations, and system updates in coordination with business stakeholders.
Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time across both database and application platforms, providing detailed root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.
Refine and automate regular processes for both database and application environments while tracking issues and documenting changes to improve consistency and efficiency.
Support scheduled maintenance and participate in release deployment activities for applications and databases, including after-hours support as needed.
Provide input and best practices for database architecture, application configuration, and deployment planning.
Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and business units to support full stack applications and ensure smooth operation across all layers.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of database schemas, application configurations, system processes, and administrative procedures.
Minimum of 5 years' experience as a SQL Server DBA or in a similar role.
Strong proficiency in database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high availability configurations.
Experience with SQL Server tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Profiler, and Performance Monitor.
Deep understanding of security best practices for database systems.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Experience administering or supporting Deltek CostPoint, Deltek Time and Expense, and IBM Cognos, including user management, configuration, and integration with backend databases.
Familiarity with Concur or similar expense management systems, with the ability to support application users and troubleshoot issues.
Solid general IT knowledge, including Windows Server administration, Active Directory, and familiarity with standard enterprise IT environments.
Basic understanding of network infrastructure and how it interacts with both database systems and enterprise applications.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, providing cross-functional support to IT staff and end users.
Willingness and flexibility to take on broader IT responsibilities, including application support, system troubleshooting, and process improvement initiatives.
Exposure to full stack development concepts or the software development lifecycle (SDLC) is a plus, particularly in support of integrated application environments.
