Our service and solutions delivery start with understanding each client’s end-state, and then seamlessly integrating within each Agency’s organization to improve and enhance strategic and technical operations and deployments.Position Overview: The Research Economist will provide expertise in economic, statistical, and/or data science research. Collaborating with client staff, the Research Economist will perform research in areas such as labor economics, social demography, survey methodology, business dynamics, public health, productivity, and industrial organization.Key Responsibilities:
- Research and Analysis: Conduct analysis and research in collaboration with client on topics including labor economics, business dynamics, productivity, social demography, survey methodology, and industrial organization.
- Project Planning and Execution: Plan and execute projects to produce data and analyses, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of research plans, goals, and governing principles.
- Data Processing and Analysis: Determine and document techniques and processes for data processing and analysis, ensuring reproducibility by internal personnel. Program and analyze data using tools such as SAS, Python, and R.
- Collaboration and Meetings: Participate in staff meetings with client to discuss project goals, progress, and next steps.
- Scholarly Publications: Construct scholarly discussion papers using client microdata and publish research results in refereed academic journals and similar outlets.
- Presentations: Disseminate research results through internal and public presentations.
- Database Development: Utilize expertise in economics, statistics, and/or data science to develop new or updated databases in collaboration with client.
- Documentation: Produce new or updated data documentation.
- Review and Evaluation: Review and evaluate technology, research, and program proposals as directed.
- Continuous Learning: Obtain training in new topics, methodologies, and techniques as needed.
- Education: Degree in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience in economic, statistical, and/or data science research. Familiarity with survey methodology, microdata, and large-scale datasets is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Strong proficiency in SAS, Python, and R for data management and statistical modeling.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Publications: A track record of publishing research in refereed academic journals is highly desirable.
