
ENGINEER, SENIOR - CIVIL/STRUCTURAL (Salary)

- Performing complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately to support various industrial and infrastructure projects.
- Preparing engineering computations, quantity takeoffs, estimates, and designs
- Preparing, coordinating, and supervising engineering design for assigned projects/tasks.
- Preparing technical specifications and scope of work descriptions
- Coordinating structural engineering activities and other disciplines
- Preparing requests for geotechnical investigations
- Participating in proposal writing, client meetings, and client presentations
- Committing to quality and continuous improvement through innovation, creative thinking, and improved results
- Performs constructability, build ability, and maintainability reviews, especially as related to structural systems.
- Reviews shop drawing and construction-phase submittals when issues arise that require specific technical assistance.
- Makes site trips to collect structural engineering related data and construction contractor performance.
- US citizenship is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or related field)
- Masters’ degree in structural engineering
- PhD in any area of structural engineering is desirable but not mandatory.
- 8+ years of related work experience
- Professional Structural Engineer (SE) license is required with ability to obtain licensure in other states.
- Must be fully conversant with the International Building Code (IBC) and Standards like ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Steel Construction Manual, and TMS 402/602.
- Must have sound overall experience in designing reinforced concrete (cast-in-place and precast construction), structural steel and masonry structures.
- Experience working with Autodesk REVIT
- Proficiency in utilizing structural engineering software programs like Risa 3d, SAP, ETABS, SAFE, RAM Structural System, Staad.Pro, and Enercalc.
- Good organizational and communication skills. Able to express ideas concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing.
- Proficient in the use of office personal computers, office networks, and the Microsoft Office suite of software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Conduct Site Surveys
- Design and Engineering services for identified locations throughout the United States
- Work under the supervision of a design lead and other engineers and designers.
- Ensure compliance with Government and National Codes and Standards.
- Work on the design of major buildings and structures.
- Work on the design for other ancillary supporting structures.
- Review of engineering drawings, manufacturer drawings and equipment specifications.
- Technical support provided to various departments including Engineering, Design, Operations and Construction.
- Guide and inform on the development, enhancement, and refinement of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on a routine basis.
- Working knowledge of structural engineering.
- Assist Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in technical discussions to facilitate the development and updating of standards.
- Ability to interpret and adapt relevant industry best practices, standards, and legislation for the benefit of the Company.
- Resolve technical issues that may arise in updating and development of standards.
- Work in a matrixed team environment and promote team effectiveness by providing technical guidance and coaching and communicating expectations to the team.
- Ability to prioritize work and be a team member on multiple projects at one time under budget and time constraints.
- Ability to perform and check complex calculations and studies (steel structures, concrete foundations, etc.).
- Prepare comprehensive written and oral reports of technical problems, investigative findings, and engineering recommendations.
- Support Project Manager and Project Management Processes.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and other personnel.
- Active Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
