Our mission is to strengthen resiliency in people and their communities through prevention, education, and services that improve the quality of life.Job PostingJob Title : Youth Inspector - Synar Compliance ProgramStatus : Temporary - June 1, 2024 - June 30, 2024Location : Fraser, MI. 48026Salary : $ 10.33 & $10 bonus per siteJob SummaryYouth Inspectors will perform tobacco compliance inspections throughout Macomb County under the supervision and direction of CARE staff. Youth will coordinate dates and times they are available to go out and complete checks with a CARE staff member between June 1, 2024 and June 30, 2024. He/she will complete required documentation and reports in accordance with funding source standards and CARE of SEM policy and procedures.All youth inspectors will be trained on their roles for this project. The youth inspector will always be accompanied by a CARE staff member throughout the entire inspection process.Description of responsibilities:
  • Must be available to schedule dates/times during June 1, 2024 - 30, 2024
  • Must participate and complete Synar Training
  • Follow safety protocols for conducting compliance checks
  • Must be comfortable conducting visits of randomly selected outlets that sell tobacco products, either over-the-counter or through vending machines for the purpose to attempt to make a tobacco purchase
  • Must be comfortable driving with a CARE staff member
  • Youth should be emotionally mature and confident entering stores to attempt to purchase cigarettes/vape products.
Required skills / education: * Must be between the ages of 16 and 20 years old at the time of the compliance checks.
  • Must have written parental/guardian permission if under the age of 18.
  • Completion of Synar Training
  • Complete training and demonstrate understanding of the negative health issues related to tobacco use.
  • Have a valid work permit if under 18 years old.
  • Understand guidelines for safety and proper protocols for conducting compliance checks.
  • Must have a Michigan state ID or valid motor vehicle license.
