This position will provide Manufacturing Engineering support to the Rotor & Die Casting operations team. Typical duties include process design and development, tooling design, Capital project design, justification and implementation, work instruction documentation, as well as Safety, Quality, Production and Maintenance support.This position reports toManufacturing Engineering ManagerYour responsibilities
  • Set direction for, lead and take ownership of improving safety, quality, customer service and productivity in rotor and die casting using appropriate technology to solve problems and accomplish company and plant goals
  • Design and develop new and improved rotor and die casting manufacturing processes, including Automation: to include equipment specifications, justification, Capital procurement, installation, programming, start up, capability studies, training, documentation, support to production, as well as continuous improvement
  • Establish process standards, routings, staffing requirements and manufacturing instructions
  • Analyze, plan and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Aggressive pursuit of Die Casting process improvements and cost reductions
  • Understand tool materials, design criteria, GD&T and the use of these principles in tooling, fixturing, gauging and safety devices
  • Manage tooling suppliers and vendors using best practices during die build programs and modifications keeping within time and budget
  • Create tooling documentation, maintain die design and documentation database
  • Select and design fixtures, tooling, accessories and material for new and existing processes
  • Utilize design software to conceptualize manufacturing tooling and processes
  • Track projects using appropriate tools, present reports on progress, problems and solutions
  • Collaborate with engineering, supervision and quality to troubleshoot all production issues related to process and tooling
  • Must be willing to work overtime and off shifts as needed with normally scheduled hours being dayshift.
  • Some travel required - 10 - 15% for training
Your background
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 0-2 years experience - Required.
  • Preferred Experience Includes: 2 to 5 years of die casting engineer experience - BUS (Baldor Unified System) / SAP Experience - Familiarity with AutoCAD and SolidWorks - Automation background.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Project
  • Ability to read, interpret and edit drawings
  • Good working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is and gating, thermal and mold design with ability to read and understand flow simulations - Desired.
  • Proven track record of project management skills - preferred.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
