Position SummaryPostdoctoral fellow in the neurophysiology of exploration and memoryThe Newman Memory Lab at Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow to conduct research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and behavioral neuroscience. This individual will join our interdisciplinary team of computer scientists and behavioral neuroscientists seeking to identify the mechanistic and theoretical foundations of exploration-driven learning. The successful candidate will have technical expertise with in-vivo electrophysiology, a strong quantitative background, and a demonstrated record of productivity.Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research under the supervision of senior researchers
  • Design and execute behavioral and in-vivo electrophysiology experiments
  • Analyze data and present findings
  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to developing new research directions
Support: This position is made possible by a new 5-year NSF grant. Postdoctoral fellows are provided state-of-the-art equipment dedicated to their experiments, office space, workstations, and travel funds to present at meetings. Salary is commensurate with experience.Qualifications:Required:
  • A PhD in neuroscience or a related field.
  • Substantial experience with in-vivo extracellular electrophysiology in freely behaving rats.
  • Fluency in related data analysis (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
Preferred:
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: navigation, memory, exploration, or the entorhinal-hippocampal circuit.
  • Prior experience with rodent memory tasks.
  • Experience with computational modeling.
