The Oklahoma Forensic Center (OFC) located in Vinita, OK is a 24 hour/365 day secure inpatient forensic facility that provides jail competency services for the State of Oklahoma. Currently, OFC has 268 beds for consumers who have been found incompetent for adjudication or adjudicated as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity. OFC is expanding with construction scheduled to be completed in June 2025 adding an additional 84 beds. When completed, OFC will have a total of 352 beds to house consumers.About the Position:Here at the Oklahoma Forensic Center the Maintenance department is hiring for a Construction/Maintenance Technician that would be responsible for preventative maintenance, repair, or upkeep of buildings and grounds. This level performs general maintenance and repair work as well as some specialized skill work in the building trades. The ideal candidate has at least some exposure to plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and/or HVAC work, and is a self-starter - driven and accountable.Job Type/Salary:

  • Hourly rate: Level III-$18.50, Level II-$16.58, Level I-$15.14
  • Shift differential when applicable
  • Primary Working Hours are 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday, Some on call may be required

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • Level III- Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of five years of experience in one or more of the building trades or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Level II- Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of four years of experience in one or more of the building trades or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Level I- Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of two years of experience in one or more of the building trades or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements:
  • Applicant must be able to pass an OSBI background check.
  • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.
  • Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 80 pounds, 25 pounds frequently and able to push and pull a maximum force of 40 pounds and able to lift and hold overhead up to 40 pounds.
