We don’t relegate creativity just to “creatives”—we encourage original thinking in every part of the organization.Our Architectural/Engineering Firm primarily serves the Semiconductor industry locally in the Chandler Arizona area, though we do work across the valley and in Rio Rancho New Mexico too. Our projects are related to equipment installation and building modifications with industrial and commercial applications. We offer services in all disciplines of design including architectural, structural, mechanical, process piping, chemical, electrical, I&C and telecom.The candidate who is hired would provide Engineering services related to various phases of design projects including: development of preliminary designs, RISA model creation, calculations, creation of plans / details / sections / elevations, QAQC, and field inspections / observations. This position is 85% desk and 15% field work in industrial environment.This is a full-time, long-term position. Our primary work sites are both in Chandler Arizona position will be based in an office.Responsibilities Include
  • Design drawings based on written and verbal descriptions from design engineers.
  • Develop Electrical construction documentation under supervision of assigned engineering, design, and BIM staff utilizing primarily Revit.
  • Create detailed field installation drawings and fabrication drawings.
  • Work from both customer and firm drawings.
  • Perform file management functions such as posting models, downloading model updates, and managing links.
  • Provide technical support for existing projects and field service.
  • Attend coordination meetings, communicate with other trades, and create/extract reports as required.
  • Working knowledge of Revit as well as Microsoft Office, highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge on Electrical installations, highly preferred.
  • Possess an understanding of drawing and modeling organization, detail, and precision.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Ability to understand projects scope of work and provide complete detailed design documentation in accordance with AHJ code requirements to obtain a building permit for construction.
  • Familiar with NFPA National Electrical Code and International Building Codes.
  • Perform building load calculation in accordance with NEC and IECC guidelines.
  • Design electrical distribution, power and lighting systems, medium voltage system design a plus.
  • Design emergency and standby generator systems.
  • Coordinate project requirements with Project Manager.
  • Communicate project status and issues/concerns with Project Manager.
  • Communicate with in-house and out-of-house design team members, as required to provide a quality, and coordinated design.
  • Pre-design site visits and as-building.
  • Arizona Electrical standards and QC/QA practices.
  • Proficient with Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit, IECC, ComCheck, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Bluebeam.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the construction process.
  • Knowledge and field experience working with various trade groups and resolving technical issues.
  • Ability to perform field walks and field verifications.
  • Ability to work in a clean room environment.
  • Knowledge and experience working in the electrical trade in an industrial setting.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform take-offs and provide an engineering estimate.
  • Knowledge and experience with RFI and submittal process.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and clearly communicate information in engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineered drawing revision process.
  • Familiar with distribution layouts, one-line diagrams, lighting layout and lighting control systems.
  • Professionally perform multiple, detailed-oriented tasks with simultaneous deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Good oral and communications skills.
  • High attention to detail.
Education Requirements:
  • Two-year Technical or associate degree in computer Aided Drafting/Construction Technology, Electrical Technology, or similar with knowledge of current CAD and BIM; platforms, or an equivalent combination of education and Electrical trade experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical drafting.
  • 9+ years' experience of electrical design in the consulting engineering industry
  • EIT certification, highly preferred.
