Serves as a Financial Aid Counselor within the Financial Aid Office. Counsels applicants, returning students, parents, faculty, and staff on all aspects of financial aid and the financial aid process. Responsible for reviewing application data and completing verification for a prescribed group (section of the alphabet) of students. Fills in at the front counter based on an established schedule.Counsels students on all aspects of student financial aid and satisfactory academic progress including minimum completion rate, length of eligibility, grade point average, probation and the appeals process. Assists students with completion of the FAFSA and other required documents. Promotes excellent customer service by assisting visitors to the office, answering phone calls, and responding to emails.Performs financial aid file verification for a select group (section of the alphabet) of student. Reviews required documentation from students and enters and submits corrections to any data found to be in error. Reviews aid awards with students upon request. Discusses eligibility/continued eligibility requirement with student upon request.Assists with the management of the LIFE Scholarship program. Reviews student files to determine eligibility and continued eligibility for this program. Sends out LIFE eligibility/ineligibility letters as needed. Answers questions concerning the LIFE Scholarship program upon request.Prepares and presents financial aid and financial literacy sessions to interested groups, students, parents, faculty and staff. Coordinates events that markets and publicizes financial aid.Assist with ISIR imports and financial aid packaging during peak seasons.
Bachelor's degree and financial aid experience.Bachelor's degree. Experience in post-secondary education is helpful. Post-secondary experience in student financial aid would be preferred as would knowledge of Ellucian's Colleague system.
Typical work environment is indoor office work with occasional outdoors work for special college events. Occasional overnight travel may be required to attend conferences, meetings, and training events. Reliable transportation a must.
