- Responsible for process operations on a shift basis utilizing the Distributed Control System (DCS) to control process flows, temperatures, pressures, and levels as well as chemical additions. Must be able to predict necessary process changes by utilizing lab data and DCS process trends.
- Responsible for communication of all necessary process changes and issues with other operations personnel. This individual acts as the constant line of communication to the control room and must promote open and effective communication.
- Responsible for effective written and verbal communication of operational and maintenance issues related to assigned processes and equipment to the Shift Leads and other Operations, Maintenance, and Lab Personnel. Maintain accurate daily record of operating conditions to provide history of plant operation.
- Responsible for knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for start-up, shutdown, routine operational changes and emergency shutdown situations for all assigned processes and equipment, as well as, lab equipment and procedures. Provide input on necessary changes or updates to SOPs.
- Performs cross department tasks; performs lab sample testing, mechanical maintenance duties and operates equipment to meet facility needs. Provides data input to daily production reports, computerized logging program, lab analysis records and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Ensure compliance with environmental policies, procedures, laws and regulations. Report all noncompliance and endorse all aspects of company's environmental management system.
- Promote all aspects of company's safety program, maintain safety awareness, report all unsafe acts or conditions that may cause injury to plant personnel or damage equipment, and report and investigate accidents.
- Assists in emergency response activities and drills to the degree of training provided; including incipient firefighting, chemical release, spill response, first aid, and other environmental or emergency actions.
- Skills with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Skills in communication, both verbal and written to effectively communicate which includes strong report writing.
- Ability to analyze, research, organize, and interpret data; possess attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to make viable decisions in a timely manner to minimize limits to production.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize time/workload in order to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Location: Rensselaer (must live within 1-hour drive of the plant)
- Certificate in process or power plant technology/vocational education or equivalent or 2 years related experience
- Previous experience in ethanol production
