The individual that fills this role will be the Pharmacist in charge of the Emergency Center Pharmacy.GENERAL SUMMARY:Shift: Full TimeLocation: Moross Detroit, Emergency CenterAssures the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders in specialized areas, such as nuclear medicine, oncology, cardiology. Serves as a subject matter expert in pharmacy discipline and provides guidance across pharmacies and to clinical leadership.About Henry Ford St. Johns Hospital: In Detroit, MI, Henry Ford St. John Hospital is a full-service hospital with 24/7 emergency care and a Level I Trauma Center. We offer a range of procedures using robotic-assisted technology, imaging and lab tests, a dedicated inpatient rehabilitation center, all on one campus.PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES:
  • Reviews and assesses medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug related problems.
  • Recommends formulary alternatives when appropriate.
  • Compounds and dispenses medications for accurate delivery to patients. Provides drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
  • Communicates with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.
  • Oversees technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies.
  • Assists with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students.
  • May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs.
  • Provides patient counseling when required.

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.
  • 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience or a PGY1 Residency Highly preferred:
PGY2 in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care preferred.CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
  • Pharmacist credentialed from the Michigan Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
