As part of our bold $300 million expansion in Orlando, we are seeking a mission-driven, experienced executive to serve as Assistant Vice President (AVP), Service Line Administrator - Surgical Services. The ideal candidate will excel in creating and executing strategic initiatives aimed at driving growth in the surgical services line.About the RoleThe AVP serves as the senior administrative leader for the Surgical Service Line at Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida. In close collaboration with department chairs, division chiefs, and senior leaders, this executive will guide operational and strategic initiatives across multiple surgical disciplines, including:
- Anesthesiology
- Pathology
- General Surgery
- Otolaryngology
- Ophthalmology
- Plastic Surgery
- Urology
- And other divisions within the Department of Surgery
- Lead development and execution of short- and long-term strategies for the surgical service line
- Align clinical operations with Nemours Children's mission of building the healthiest generation of children
- Support the growth of new and existing programs, including surgical subspecialties and academic initiatives
- Partner with business development and strategy leaders to evaluate market opportunities and increase volumes
- Ensure strategic planning is data-informed, financially sound, and aligned with campus and system priorities
- Oversee day-to-day operations across surgical departments and clinical sites
- Lead budget planning, forecasting, cost containment, and capital planning
- Establish and monitor performance metrics (e.g., RVUs, financial targets, access benchmarks)
- Support physician and hospital billing compliance, contract management, and revenue optimization
- Collaborate with Nemours Children's shared services (Finance, HR, Revenue Cycle, Research Ops, etc.) to ensure integration and accountability
- Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and resilience
- Invest in staff development and mentorship; support recruitment and retention of high-performing teams
- Work with Chairs and HR on workforce planning, compensation, credentialing, and regulatory compliance
- Align workforce strategy with Nemours Children's commitment to building the healthiest workforce to serve our communities
- Monitor and improve patient access to surgical services
- Lead initiatives to enhance patient/family satisfaction, safety, and outcomes
- Support Nemours Children's continuous improvement culture through quality metrics and accountability
- Ensure regulatory and accreditation readiness across clinical programs
- Master's degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred
- In lieu of master's degree, a minimum of 10 years' progressive healthcare leadership experience in complex, multi-site systems
- Proven success in managing surgical or procedural service lines, with experience in hospital and outpatient environments
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, operations, finance, and physician relations
- Pediatric and/or nonprofit health system experience preferred
- Experience in high-growth, academically affiliated healthcare settings is a plus
