What this job involves: The HSSE Specialist will develop, document and implement programs to deliver Environmental, Health and Safety. The programs must assure systematic plans for daily management and improvement with effective reporting and progress review methods. This position will provide guidance and support to site management, program owners and site personnel the Deven’s, Massachusetts location, to ensure compliance with HSSE requirements through the design, organization, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures and programs. The HSSE Specialist must understand state and local requirements along with the Critical Performance Indicators and Key Performance Indicators related to customer expectations in this area. The objective is to deliver Facility Management at each site in a manner that protects all personnel and property while avoiding loss, building public trust and providing business continuity.This position requires 5 days per week on-site presence with no remote work options. Please note that relocation assistance is not provided for this role. Only local candidates or those able to relocate independently should apply.What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive HSSE programs and initiatives that comply with regulatory requirements and promote employee participation and accountability. Examples include hazard assessments, contractor safety, isolation of hazardous energy, chemical management, incident management, emergency procedures, among others.
  • Identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury, property, or environmental damage using standards, best management practices, and analytical techniques.
  • Develop and conduct training in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. Ensure proper documentation of training.
  • Assist sites in performing job safety analysis, pre-task plans, and developing safe work procedures.
  • Conduct and/or participate in HSSE inspections and audits, and support on time closure of corrective actions.
  • Collect data, provide information and reports as needed to support the Client’s compliance programs.
  • Participate in incident investigation, root-cause analysis, recordkeeping, and follow-up.
  • Make recommendations for prevention based on results of investigations.
  • Monitor recordkeeping and reporting performance for risk related requirements and objectives.
  • Ensure that appropriate site and business specific programs are implemented, documented and standardized to effectively and efficiently meet KRI’s/SLAs and legal requirements.
  • Programs must comply with regulatory, client and company requirements.
Additional Location Specific Responsibilities:
  • Provide contractor safety training on a regular cadence and as needed
  • Must operate within client-based CMMS systems Maximo and Crowd Comfort
  • Must provide periodic reviews of all JLL safety equipment in compliance with client SOP’s and JLL requirements
  • Responsible for compiling monthly safety metrics
Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of three years of experience working with HSSE compliance and management systems preferably within facility operations
  • Good work ethic and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with others at all levels and across organizations. Must be able to get results through others without having direct reports
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in basic computer applications and software such as MS Office programs, Outlook, etc.
  • For internal candidates, must consistently receive a "meets expectations" job performance review
Desired Qualifications:
  • HSSE experience in biopharmaceutical, research or maintenance operations
  • College degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of safety requirements, fundamentals of safety education, industrial safety, risk management, and the application of data automation to the safety function
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn regulatory requirements that apply to facilities management (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT, ASME, etc.)
