- Focus on enhancing operator competency in instrument use, environmental sampling, analytical data interpretation, and development of Health Risk Assessments (HRAs).
- Create PAT samples with relevant volatile organic compounds (VOCs) tailored to instrumentation detection limits and customer requirements.
- Produce solution sets and post-challenge documentation to guide proper analysis techniques.
- Develop advanced training materials on:
- Federal/Military Exposure Guidelines (OELs, AEGLs, MEGs, SEGs)
- OEH Site Assessments (OEHSA)
- Chemical and radiological exposure analysis and response
- Design cognitive training products that assess and improve deductive reasoning and risk communication skills in NEPMU operators and DoD personnel.
- Provide consultative support for OETR (Occupational and Environmental Training and Readiness) product development to enhance DoD enterprise learning.
- Research DoD/DHA/federal regulations and manufacturer documentation to inform curriculum design and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Develop and test laboratory-based PAT samples across various matrices (air, water, soil).
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local lab safety and quality standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Health Physics, Physical Science, or a related field.
- Experience with HAPSITE ER/HSS, Gemini, and HACH DR1900 instrumentation.
- Ability to safely prepare and analyze air/water/soil matrix samples.
- Knowledge of HRAs and OEHSAs, including proper use of OELs, AEGLs, MEGs, and SEGs.
- Skilled in writing training packages, job aids, tests, and keys aligned with adult learning principles.
- Able to research policy/regulations and translate findings into technical training content.
- Military OEH/Preventive Medicine Background:
- Prior service as a NEPMU Technician/Officer or USAF Bioenvironmental Engineering Officer/Technician.
- Field experience with water screening, air/soil sampling, and exposure pathway analysis using portable field instruments.
- Deployed Environment Expertise:
- Experience in OEH assessments and risk communication in deployed settings (TICs, TIMs, HAZMAT, CWA).
- Competence in analyzing and communicating complex health hazards.
- Instrumentation Skills:
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and correct instrumentation errors.
- Proficiency in writing technical education materials with attention to grammar, formatting, and accuracy.
