deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a Hardware Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL.Position Description:The selected Engineer responsibilities will include the support of the GMD Weapon System (GWS) program as an individual contributor on the HWE environmental team. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance of the GWS system design with hardware requirements, through equipment evaluation and design guidance and analysis products. This directly support the design and development of the GWS capability on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).Education Requirements:Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM related fieldExperience Requirements:
  • 2+ years with Bachelor's degree; 0+ years with Master's degree
  • 2 years of recent experience using a CAD Package such as Visio, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CREO, Siemens Capital Suites (Logic/Harness), or NX
  • Prior experience with engineering PLM systems such as Teamcenter and MRP system such as SAP
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Team, and PowerPoint
  • Individual must possess good communication skills
  • Candidate must demonstrate ability to think critically and capture concepts in work products, presentations, and discussions
  • Capable of working both independently and within a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
Special Skills Desired:
  • Recent experience leading a small team, including task and schedule planning, to meet major project milestone objectives
  • Experience mentoring and cross-training junior engineers in analysis work, reviews, and approving their analysis results to meet customer requirements
  • Recent experience generating engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, technical reports, test procedures, program procedures, and CDRLS
  • Prior experience with the design, test, and/or integration and deployment of mechanical and structural components, systems, or subsystems
  • Experience reviewing engineering specifications, electrical schematics and/or drawings with the ability to translate customer driven requirements into specifications
  • Experience in one or more of the following system engineering knowledge areas: technical planning, requirements derivation, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, cost and risk analysis, interface definition, system design, system integration, verification and validation, supportability, and effectiveness analyses for total systems
  • Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-310, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1366, MIL-HDBK-1791, MIL-STD-1472, ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.100, MIL-STD-31000, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, TEMPEST 01-13
  • Experience using analytical software tools, to analyze and reduce data to identify key characteristics and trends
  • Experience with mission critical and safety critical systems, components, etc.
  • Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Core Standards: MDA-QS-001-MAP, MDA-QS-003-PMAP, MDA Instruction 5000.20-INS (ETR Process)
  • Familiarity with the GMD domain and GMD Launch Support Systems hardware
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis and Modeling theory and application using industry standard structural analysis software (ANSYS, GTStrudl, ABAQUS, STAAD, Femap, NX Simcenter, NASTRAN, Creo Simulation or SolidWorks Simulation)
  • DOORS and/or CAMEO exposure
