  • Collaborates with school and community leadership to design, develop, implement and support Signature Academies in Mobile County Public Schools.
  • Assists in all aspects of initial academy implementation, including materials acquisition, staff training and program organization.
  • Investigates and makes recommendations about affiliation with national programs or networks, when appropriate.
  • Organizes and leads site visits to programs and academies with like themes, as necessary.
  • Facilitates partnerships to develop mentorship, job shadowing and internship programs.
  • Participates in the development of academy frameworks and structures within the school.
  • Leads the development to provide a rigorous education program that combines relevant academic and technical curricula around a career theme.
  • Identifies the course-taking pattern (pathways) that will create student success and meet State academic requirements.
  • Assures pathway implementation that adheres to ALSDE CTE requirements and leads to college and career readiness.
  • Collaborates with Instructional Leadership and Professional Learning to heighten awareness regarding academy programs.
  • Successfully seeks out and applies for various grants related to the academies/career field.
  • Coordinates the implementation of national programs and curricula, when appropriate.
  • Provides support to teachers, families, and students to create a successful learning experience within the academies.
  • Creates and administers training for teachers on academy strategies.
  • Creates and distributes reference materials to Instructional and Guidance Counselors regarding the academy student experience.
  • Collaborates with all academy and support personnel to create the most efficient use system resources.
  • Evaluates the academy program annually and recommends improvements.
  • Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrate respect for others.
QUALIFICATIONS:MUST HAVE A VALID ALABAMA TEACHING CERTIFICATE.Must have a minimum of four (4) years of teaching experience.Must be highly motivated, flexible, creative, and have a positive attitude.Must be detail oriented, with strong communication and organizational skills.Must be a versatile worker, who is equally comfortable working independently and in a team.Must be able to multi-task.Career and Technical Education experience is preferred.Career Academy Experience is valued.Duty Days 187Salary Range: From/To As per State Matrix, depending on degree and experience. Bachelor's beginning pay - $44,226.00.Additional Job Information**Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law.
