- Assists in the preparation and trial of lawsuits by participating in filing activities and preparation of correspondence
- Maintains a working knowledge of filing fees, filing periods, due dates, and procedural differences between courts
- Prepares documents including answers to complaints, notices of appearance, notices of depositions, requests for productions, requests for admissions, and settlement documents (including releases)
- Drafts all correspondence, legal pleadings, briefs, reports, discovery notices, and motions as required
- Maintains attorney's daily calendar and a centralized office calendar in the internal management system; ensures all deadlines are met; sends reminders to attorneys on all pleadings and discovery matters
- Schedules deposition, hearings or any other meeting required during the life of the case
- Understands and maintains client confidentiality rules
- Reviews and evaluates assigned cases
- Attends trials with attorneys when required
- Collaborates with Litigation Examiners/Specialists to execute the Agreed Litigation Plan for the defense of each case
- Keeps the assigned Litigation Examiner/Specialist informed throughout the life of assigned files
- Assists in other areas of department or other departments as required
- Maintains a customer service orientation and positive image of the company; provides courteous, prompt, and professional approach to exchanging information and resolving issues; adheres to strict confidentiality requirements
- Responds to emergency call-ins for weather incidents, natural disasters, or other critical events
- The job duties might change in the event of a natural catastrophe that impacts our customers and you might be required to work additional hours
- Maintains positive communication and interaction with Company personnel, representatives from external organizations, and the public

- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years prior experience in an equivalent role
- OR an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience
- May be required to possess a valid state of Florida driver's license
- Associate degree in legal studies
- Comprehensive knowledge of legal terminology
- First party property experience and property/casualty claims practices
- Knowledge of clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing high quality and efficient customer service
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and ability to learn and become proficient in the use of other specialized software as may be required
- Skill in establishing and maintaining positive relationships and fostering effective communication and collaboration
- Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality requirements when handling sensitive information
- Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English, both orally and in writing
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform math calculations required for the work
- Ability to regularly attend work and arrive punctually for designated work schedule
