
General Maintenance - Monroe Regional Hospital - Facilities - Full Time Afternoons

- Keeps supervision informed of problems, conditions and status of assigned work.
- Makes emergency repairs to building systems while on single coverage shifts.
- Supports work with documentation.
- Assists maintenance mechanics and skilled tradesman with troubleshooting, repair, construction and installation of building systems, equipment and fixtures.
- Regularly performs and assists with the preventive maintenance of equipment, checking oil levels, belts, temperature and fluid levels, air pressures, cleaning equipment, changing filters, etc.
- Makes a variety of repairs to equipment and facilities as required, such as beds, replacing light bulbs, painting, grounds, clearing drains and other general maintenance.
- May be assigned to move furniture and equipment.
- Investigates/identifies and repairs minor malfunction of equipment and utilities. Orders parts to complete assigned work orders.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Skills: Skills and abilities in the areas of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, carpentry and general maintenance. Ability to operate a computer.
- Years of Experience: At least three years general maintenance experience with proven competency in the areas of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, and carpentry.
- License: A boiler operator license is preferred. Must obtain a High Pressure Boiler Operator License within 2 ½ years of the hire date if assigned to the boiler house.
As an essential job function, due to continuously changing patient census/activity and staffing needs, must have the flexibility to work a varying schedule should the need arise, which may require working a varying shift, overtime (greater than 40 worked hours per week) and/or shift durations that exceed the assigned status for shift length and/or hours per week. May rotate shifts and is “on call” during assigned shift to perform emergency repairs to hospital facilities and equipment as requested.WORKING CONDITIONS

- Physical Demands: Physical ability to do considerable walking, lifting (up to 80 lbs.), carrying, pushing and standing is required. Working conditions vary from office environment to unpleasant conditions due to odors, excessive heat, cold, dirt, dust, small work areas and the like.
