- Bachelor’s degree required in education or a related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- CERTIFICATION:
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain Georgia Professional Standards Commission Certification at Level 4 or higher
- Educational Leadership preferred
- WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in education, talent development, leadership training, or program coordination.
- Experience in educator support, coaching, or professional development is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws regulating student discipline and Title IX
- Knowledge of best practices in supporting students with behavior challenges
- Ability to problem-solve with school-based and district teams
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, colleagues, and community members
- Ability to effectively consult and collaborate with school leaders in processes related to student support services.
- Ability to provide technical assistance, plan, develop, and present professional learning to a variety of audiences
- Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively collaborate with various stakeholder groups (district staff, school staff, and parents)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
- Review discipline referrals and suspension reports from schools in the cluster(s).
- Provide guidance to principals and assistant principals on policy-aligned discipline strategies and recommended best practices to improve operations.
- Support intervention programs and the implementation of restorative practices and/or alternatives to suspension to improve student behavior.
- Prepare and manage documentation for student hearings, including tribunal preparation and expulsion cases.
- Coordinate and facilitate the student discipline hearing process, including notifications to stakeholders, preparation of correspondence, and agreements in connection with student disciplinary hearings. (Currently executed by the existing coordinator)
- Collect and track data related to disproportionality in student discipline.
- Escalate and communicate concerns to the Cluster Superintendent and Director of Discipline as needed.
- Monitor and track student transitions from Hank Aaron, DJJ, home school, and out-of-district placements in a timely manner.
- Monitor reentry meetings, including alternative school reentry meetings, and provide support as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Exceptional Education, Social Work, Psychological Services, etc.) to ensure a comprehensive approach to discipline and student behavior is implemented.
- Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person or virtually and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours, and as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
