To learn more about our culture and to join our team, visit us at https://www.kaplanco.com/about/About the Position:Our 3rd Shift Shipping Manager contributes to the overall success and profitable growth of the company by managing the nightly operations of the shipping department and directing a team of warehouse associates and Supervisors to ensure optimal productivity and safety.Work Schedule: 9:00pm - 5:30am Sunday- Thursday1 Month Training Schedule: 1st Shift Hours 7am - 3:45pm Monday - FridayPosition Responsibilities Include:
  • Effectively manage a team of 30+ staff members, with possible future staff expansion, by providing direction that establishes a clear understanding of the performance expectations for shipping procedures, policies and safety requirements.
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring all staff members are actively engaged to meet daily production / quality assurance goals and customer demand.
  • Hire, train, track performance, provide coaching and constructive feedback as needed. Continuously focused on motivating the entire team.
  • Periodically review 3rd shift shipping operations to determine overall levels of efficiency, safety, employee well-being and production. Present observations and any recommendations for maximizing efficiency to the Operations Manager.
  • Inspect physical condition of the warehouse, docks, and equipment according to inspection schedule and discuss appropriate actions to remedy unsatisfactory findings.
  • Identify any obstacles that are preventing goal achievement and implement resolution.
  • Ensure safety standards are maintained at all times, including the completion of pre-shift inspections.
  • Work directly with Operations Manager to report any concerns with quality, equipment, process, material and labor.
  • Complete shipping and handling documentation for incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Optimize and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize work efficiency and work hours to include minimizing overtime.
  • Routinely visit work areas over 200,000 square foot area, to include upper 3rd level accessed by stairs, to monitor and redirect labor based on production requirements.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by enforcing standards and procedures.
  • Maintains proper security procedures and protocols to include building security.
  • Manage warehouse team monitoring work and ensure safe use of warehouse equipment, systems and procedures.
Position Requirements Include:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Operation's Management, Supply Chain Management or similar degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience directing, coaching and evaluating staff in warehousing or distribution environment.
  • Proven leadership abilities with excellent people skills.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • WMS (DLx) and ERP (PeopleSoft) programs a plus, BUT NOT REQUIRED.
  • Knowledge of RF guns a plus, BUT NOT REQUIRED.
  • Good basic math and reading in English.
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Good planning and organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to safely operate forklift and be comfortable selecting stock from 20' high-reach racks.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
