  • You will install, maintain and repair a variety of complex equipment and systems involving power boilers with complicated components, critical requirements, and rigid tolerances.
  • You will repair and maintain single and multiple fuel power boilers, pollution control equipment, water treatment systems, chemical dispensers, electrostatic precipitators, bag houses, ash removal equipment and wet particulate scrubbers.
  • You will monitor and test the operation of power boiler systems to identify malfunctions and potential problems with equipment.
  • You will perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on plant systems and equipment.
  • You will service units by cleaning or replacing filters, strainers, orifices, ignition devices, and other items on power boilers.

The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to do the work of a Boiler Plant Equipment Mechanic WG-5309-10 without more than normal supervision such as: 1) Repairing or replacing defective parts of high pressure/high temperature boilers; 2) Examining, adjusting, repairing or replacing equipment or parts (thermostats, switches, burners, bearings, controls, valves, pilots, etc.) to ensure units are performing properly; 3) Performing diagnostics on large high pressure boilers (e.g. locate sources of leaks, vibration, defects, etc.) in order to make repairs; and 4) Using specialized test equipment to identify malfunctions in single and multiple fuel power boilers and associated auxiliary or pollution control equipment.
