- Provides direct support to the Dean of the School of Medicine to communicate complex, engaging and sensitive communications utilizing excellence in strategic communication plan development, long and short form writing, script writing, editing, leadership voice, PowerPoint presentations, and project coordination.
- Independently develops and manages communications channels and programs for targeted audiences and purposes. Develops and manages the implementation of communication strategies, campaigns and plans to address complex issues.
- In consultation with the Director of Communications Chief of Staff and VP Marketing Communications, provides executive leaders with communications advice and guidance.
- Responsible for writing the scheduled communication from the Dean SOM; independently develops talking points, content and email communications on highly confidential and complex issues as needed on a wide variety of topics throughout the year. Coordinates responses for Dean of the School of Medicine mailbox and InfoScope news articles as well as executive leader requests or submissions – includes working with the subject experts, writing the answers and sharing with leaders for approval.
- Independently provides support (attends meetings, takes minutes, liaises with stakeholders, develops communications plans, creates communications and facilitates websites) to the Offices of the President, Provost or Dean, School of Medicine and Internal Communications on a variety of critical institutional initiatives.
- Updates and maintains content for the SOM website and intranet.
- Supervises the work of communications resources including administrative staff, interns and vendors. As needed, informs work of communications team members to support executive communications projects.
- Serves as a trusted and sought-after thought partner on institutional strategic initiatives for executive, internal and external stakeholders.
- Assists in providing planning and tactical communications support to MCW’s executive and senior leaders to help convey the vision, progress and current state of affairs for the institution in a consistent, compelling, and transparent way – to both internal and external audiences and stakeholders.
- Helps ensure that executive communications are written for engagement and aligned with institutional goals and internal and external messages, and that appropriate communication channels are leveraged to disseminate messages effectively.
- Maintains awareness of and upholds the MCW brand strategy, guidelines and policies.
- Ensures that assigned projects and deliverables are high-quality, completed on time and reflect stakeholder input.

- Strength in understanding, interpreting and simplifying a variety of technical and complex subjects.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate information from a strategic perspective.
- Strong time management, prioritization and organizational skills.
