Duties Description Rockland Children's Psychiatric Center (RCPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting a Principal Psychologist to serve as the Director of Psychology.Duties Descriptions:RCPC's Principal Psychologist is responsible for providing oversight to the Psychology Department including:
  • Providing clinical supervision to 4 inpatient and outpatient psychologists and evaluating psychologist competencies.
  • Ensuring adequate staffing for the psychology department.
  • Determining appropriate psychological testing based on referrals.
  • Developing and implementing a therapeutic program for a specialized unit for youth with developmental disabilities.
  • Overseeing the supervision of the Psychology Externship Program.
  • Facilitating professional development of psychology staff by seeking out CE learning opportunities.
  • Participating performance improvement activities.
  • Ensuring that all psychologists maintain active enrollment as Medicare and Medicaid providers.
  • Participating in facility-wide initiatives, such as substance abuse and DBT treatment.
  • Providing coverage as the administrator on call for facility on a rotating basis.

If you are appointed and lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.Continued employment as a Licensed Psychologist is dependent upon current licensure and registration by New York State as a Licensed Psychologist. Loss of licensure and registration may result in removal from employment.Minimum Qualifications Candidates within State Service can be considered a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Principal Psychologist eligible list and are registered to practice psychology in New York State. OR Candidates within State Service can be considered transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.ORProvisional Opportunity:In the absence of an appropriate eligible list, a provisional appointment may be made. In order to be eligible for a provisional appointment, you must be licensed and registered to practice psychology in New York State AND have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Licensed Psychologist or two years as a Psychologist 2 or Associate Psychologist.Candidates appointed provisionally must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title, and their score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before they can be permanently appointed.
