Position Title: HPC Scientific Applications Systems Analyst/Programmer
Location: Remote
Position Status: Contract to Hire

  • Devise, develop, or modify procedures to solve complex scientific application problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and desired results.
  • Prepare detailed specifications from which scientific domain-specific programs will be written.
  • Design, code, test, debug, document, and validate programs.
  • Provide technical expertise and collaborate with the team to resolve challenges.
  • Work at the highest technical level of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities.
  • May be responsible for completion of a project phase.
  • Provide guidance and training to less-experienced analysts/programmers.
What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a Scientific or Computer Science/Engineering discipline.
  • Experience: 5+ years of related experience.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Experience porting applications to both on-premise and cloud-based HPC systems.
  • Performance analysis and optimization tuning expertise.
  • Ability to implement complex scientific workflows and associated applications.
  • Experience identifying and containerizing scientific applications (Docker, Singularity, Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Clearance: Ability to qualify for a T1-Public Trust
Other Skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet project milestones with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a remote team environment.
Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency working within Linux environments.
  • Compiler experience (C, C++, Fortran).
  • Python development experience (preferred but not required).
