  • Facilitation of Learning. Plan, prepare and deliver instruction and facilitate the learning of students in associate degree, technical diploma, basic education, continuing education, and/or contract training programs in the area of ELL. Assess the learning outcomes of students at the unit, course and program level in areas of ELL.
  • Curriculum Development. Develop, revise and continually update the ELL curriculum and instructional materials which are competency-based, current, consistent with employer expectations, and aligned with the college policy on level of required documentation.
  • Classroom Management. Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation.
  • Interpersonal/Team Skills. Participate in activities of the instructional team, including planning, development, scheduling, and budgeting as a cooperative and professional team player.
  • Business/Industry/Community Linkages. Develop and deliver customized ELL training for various clients as needed, and maintain involvement with business/industry/community through advisory committees, marketing and recruitment efforts, and professional associations and organizations.
  • Student Support and Guidance. Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals.
  • Professional Development. Participate in professional development activities that provide for continually updated knowledge and skills for the role of the contemporary instructor as directed by one’s individual Professional Development Plan.
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with minor in ESL, Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL), Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), Applied Linguistics, Bilingual Education, or Foreign Language instruction ORBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a combination of 15 semester credits in ESL, Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL), Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), Applied Linguistics, Bilingual Education, or Foreign Language instructionPreference will be given to applicants who have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Secondary Education or Special Needs, with a master’s degree in a related subject (English, Math, Natural Science, Social Science) or a master’s degree in Education.Preference will be given to applicants who have additional certification in English Language Learning. (A master’s degree in English as a Second Language, Applied Linguistics, or English, or Education, with at least 18 graduate credits in the areas above.) * Experience in delivering instruction by alternative methods such as online in a synchronous or asynchronous modality is preferred.
  • Familiarity with computer applications, particularly Blackboard, Collaborate, Microsoft Office, Teams, OER’s, and other programs that promote student success is preferred.
  • Knowledge of a foreign language is highly desirable.
  • Upon hire, must maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation.​

Additional InformationPay: $63,700.00 - $82,900.00 per year.Pay is based on a multitude of factors, including experience, qualifications, education, relevant certifications, internal equity, and market data.
