Job Summary: As a Maintenance Technician at Silverfern North, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of our facilities. Your primary responsibilities will include performing repairs, preventative maintenance, and general upkeep to ensure the comfort and well-being of our residents.Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance and Repairs:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as HVAC system checks, plumbing repairs, and electrical work.
  • Address and promptly resolve maintenance requests and issues from residents and staff.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and address potential hazards or safety concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including fire safety and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain and repair common appliances, such as refrigerators, stoves, and dishwashers.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Director for more extensive repairs or replacements.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and inspections
  • Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Grounds and Exterior Maintenance:
  • Maintain cleanliness of the exterior of the community, including landscaping, walkways, and parking areas.
  • Perform snow removal, lawn care, and general upkeep of outdoor spaces.
  • Painting and Carpentry:
  • Perform minor carpentry work, such as repairing cabinets, doors, and windows.
  • Touch up paint and assist with larger painting projects as needed.
  • Emergency Response:
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly, including evenings and weekends, to ensure the safety and comfort of residents.
  • Maintain an on-call schedule as required.
  • Teamwork:
  • Collaborate with other maintenance technicians, housekeeping staff, and management to ensure a safe and well-maintained environment.
  • Attend team meetings and participate in training sessions.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or vocational training in maintenance is a plus.
  • Previous maintenance experience, preferably in a senior living or hospitality setting.
  • Knowledge of building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
  • Strong problem-solving and technical skills.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and operate heavy equipment and perform physical tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
