- Operating the Security Computer System and associated technologies to assess alarms, investigate and report suspicious activities and/or circumstances
- Assisting other site organizations to provide security support as described in established procedures.
- Completion of all Security Logs and Security Journals.
- Performing activities per ISFSI security procedures to provide physical protection of the facility, including personnel and vehicle searches; surveillance and foot/vehicle patrols in the Owner Controlled, Protected Areas; and armed response if needed.
- Performing testing of security equipment and accounting for security keys and equipment.
- Assisting in weekly, semi-annual, and other as needed maintenance activity on security equipment.
- Maintaining compliance with all site policies, procedures, and directives
- Identifying safety and/or fire hazards and make recommendations for improvement
- Reporting degradation, deficiencies, and accidents in accordance with current procedures and take appropriate corrective actions as directed by Security force Supervision
- Controlling access of personnel, vehicles and materials into the protected area and maintain appropriate log
- Performing all site and fire watch patrols and maintain appropriate logs
- Performing site maintenance as directed to include but not limited to snow removal, garbage removal, housekeeping, and landscaping duties
- Performing compensatory postings and escort duties as directed by Security Force Supervision and in accordance with current procedures and directives
- Maintaining shift schedule to cover a 24-hour/seven-day a week operation including mandatory overtime
- Participating in security drills, practical exercises and required training programs as directed
- Maintaining qualification of requirements including Radiation protection, Access authorization, Emergency plan, physical fitness and weapon requirements as required for ISFSI assignment.
- Adhere to regulatory fatigue orders and work hours tracking requirements relative to ISFSI
- Ensure house-keeping expectations are met
- Maintain all required qualifications for site access
- All other duties as assigned.
- Must be 21 years of age and a US citizen with no felony convictions.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of State-required training or qualifications for licensing.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain weapons qualifications.
- Must pass drug and alcohol screening, and background checks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and effective communication skills (oral and written).
- Strong active listening, attention to detail, and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to assess and resolve situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Must meet NRC psychological testing and nuclear regulatory requirements for unescorted access.
- Physical stamina for walking and climbing.
