Location: Home Office, ChicagoReports to: VP OperationsPosition Summary:Director-Field Training is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of field training programs across all Puttshack locations. Reporting directly to VP Operations with a dotted line to the Vice President of Learning & Development. This role will partner closely with key business partners to create and implement learning solutions and programs for Puttshack venues. The Director - Field Training is a proven leader of others who can effectively collaborate with the Field team, Learning & Development, Operations, Human Resources and senior leaders across the organization and industry. This leader is a strong performance consultant who can develop and execute learning solutions to build functional capability and confidence across the field operations teams. This leader has experience orchestrating organizationally complex work and demonstrating business impact through data. This leader must also be hands-on with a willingness to analyze and build, unafraid to roll-up their sleeves to get projects done.Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
  • Develop and execute the Field learning strategy.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performance venue training team, promoting a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Partner with senior leaders, the Field team and the broader L&D, HR, Technology and Operations teams to understand specific development needs of each role in the field.
  • Create and manage diverse training programs for associates at all levels, ensuring they're engaging, effective, and up-to-date with industry standards in the hospitality/service industry.
  • Collaborate with internal and external experts and stakeholders to develop high-quality, impactful training content, to be delivered utilizing a blended approach including e-learning, workshops, and virtual learning environments.
  • Lead training initiatives supporting organizational change, ensuring employees are equipped to adapt to new processes and technologies efficiently.
  • Regularly conduct comprehensive needs analyses to identify developmental needs and gaps, adjusting the learning strategy as necessary to meet evolving organizational demands.
  • Define, monitor, and report on key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of learning programs, leveraging data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all training and development initiatives comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Use data to measure success: learn, iterate, and improve; analyze trends and develop proactive actions to improve the experience for future learners.
  • Partner with others to solve business problems and contribute expertise and support beyond field development as needed.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Education Level: Bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum of 7+ years of relevant learning and development experience, ideally in a fast-paced/high growth hospitality organization with a distributed workforce.
  • A minimum of 4+ years leading a team of training professionals.
  • Must be comfortable working through ambiguity and in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, public communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population at all levels.
  • Self-directed in planning own work and work of teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Advanced understanding of adult learning theory and principles.
  • Strong business insight, with the ability to credibly make a business case, by linking current and anticipated business challenges with learning and development solutions.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail.
  • Well versed in digital learning, just-in-time / micro-learning, and blended learning strategies.
  • Strong capabilities in data analytics (as it pertains to measuring learning).
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels of the organization and extremely flexible to be proactive in a fast paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Excellent facilitation and mentoring skills. Experience in group facilitation and leading. group/cohort dynamics to create connections and foster understanding.
  • Travel - 50%.
  • This position must pass a post-offer background check.
Physical Requirements:On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; frequent use of telephone/video conferencing and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting, up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.
