Location: Fishkill, NYDuration: Permanent, Full-TimePay Rate: Production Pay/ $20/hr. when not in Production PayUS Citizenship Required.The general laborer or ground hand is responsible for supporting the crews by performing work related to the installation, repair, or movement of telecommunications cable.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSProvide general labor skills including but not limited to shoveling, spinning a fiber reel, and pulling cableMaintain and promote a safe working environment for yourself and the other members of your teamAssist with traffic control and barriersDirect traffic flow in accordance with local DOT guidelinesManually rotating a reel containing fiber optic conduit or other materialAssist with work site preparations to include shoveling, raking etc.Check oil and fuel levels on trucks and equipmentManually load and unload materialsSafely utilize various construction hand toolsPull lashing equipment down cable lines to secure wiresPull out cable lines and other equipment used in installing cable wiresDrive truck to/from job locations (with the proper licensing requirements)Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) while working including but not limited to hard hat, reflective vest, and safety gogglesOther duties as assignedSKILLS AND ABILITIESRegularly lift and/or move up to 100lbsAbility to work in remote or congested traffic areasWillingness to work outdoors in every type of weatherAbility to work alone or with crewsAbility to work safelyMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSExperience in operating various hand toolsPossess a valid driver's license with a good driving recordMust be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, DOT, and background checkAvailable for work requiring travelPREFERRED REQUIREMENTSHigh School Diploma or GEDCDLPrior construction experience21 years of age or olderAerial cable installation experienceUnderground construction experienceSplicing experienceCertified Pole Climber
