Diakon Behavioral Health Services offers a range of counseling and behavioral services to children, teens, families and adult individuals. Services are provided through counseling centers in Mechanicsburg, Lewisburg, Montoursville, Williamsport, within several public-school buildings and Chester County. Specialized programs include family-based mental health services, provided in the community and in-home, addiction counseling, trauma-focused therapy and SPIN, a service designed to assist children and youths who have problematic sexual behaviors.General Responsibilities:
Provides support to consumers in all life domains, including development of healthy relationships, recovery support, obtaining employment and accessing stable housing.
Provides support before, during, and after formal treatment when authorized.
Provides outreach and advocacy for those in the early stages of recovery.
Performs follow-up activities with participants who have completed programs, are in need of engagement or re-admission.
Establishes and maintains processional and supportive relationships with consumers, families, referring personnel, treatment providers, and others involved in the lives of consumers.
Identifies emergency or crisis situations and facilitate access to appropriate resources.
Education/Training: Eighteen (18) years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED required. Some college coursework preferred. Also required is an active Pennsylvania certification as a Recovery or Peer Specialist based on Diakon program assignment or obtain the required certification within six (6) months from date of employment.Experience: A minimum of 24 months of continuous personal and lived recovery experience. One (1) year of working with individuals struggling with substance use and mental health orders preferred. Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, and lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.; visual and auditory skills.Compensation and Benefits: Diakon offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.
