Controls Engineer – Paper Industry (Plant Construction & Operations)Position Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to lead the design, programming, and commissioning of control systems for a paper manufacturing plant—beginning in construction and continuing through ongoing operations.Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement PLC and HMI programs (Allen-Bradley and Siemens) for new and existing paper-machine lines
  • Configure and integrate Distributed Control Systems (DCS) specific to paper-making processes
  • Collaborate with project managers, electrical teams, and contractors to ensure on-time delivery of control solutions
  • Lead capital-project controls scope: define requirements, manage schedules, oversee budgets, and coordinate testing & start-up activities
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians
  • Troubleshoot and optimize control strategies post-commissioning to maximize machine reliability and performance
RequirementsQualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • Strong project management and PLC programming experience (Rockwell/Siemens or similar).
  • Hands-on HMI development and troubleshooting expertise.
  • Robotics and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) experience preferred, but not required.
  • Background in high-speed manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with plant-floor personnel and external customers.
  • Candidates with H1B will be considered.
