Physical Education, Barre and Zumba Part-time InstructorJob ID: 11458Location: Bellevue CollegeFull/Part Time:Regular/Temporary: TemporaryPosition SummaryThe Health and Physical Education department at Bellevue College is seeking applications for a certified Barre and/or Zumba instructor beginning fall term 2022. Instructors will create class curriculum and guide students through a safe and effective Barre workout in the on-campus studio.Adjunct faculty positions are temporary positions, and they are typically assigned several quarters in advance. Barre and Zumba courses are 1 credit each. Applicants may apply for one or both open positions.Copies of all current fitness certifications will be required. Maintaining certification status is required for all instructors (this includes group fitness and CPR CEU's).Pay, Benefits & Work SchedulePart-time faculty is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. Quarterly remuneration for a 1 credit activity class starts at $1,455. The department offers quarterly activity classes (such as volleyball, pickleball) and three certificate programs; Outdoor Recreation Leadership, Personal Fitness Trainer, Yoga Instructor Training. Faculty are committed to promoting inclusive physical education through consistent, fun, and habitual daily movement.Essential Functions
  • Teach on campus as dictated by program need, course schedule, and enrollment demand.
  • Available to students periodically outside of class; to engage students actively in their own learning.
  • Maintain high standards with regards to course content.
  • Provide students with timely feedback on their course work and examinations.
  • Adhere to program assessment practices and policies.
  • Participate in governance activities to support student success efforts and assessment tasks.
  • Create a syllabus, use Canvas (college learning management system) for assignments and correspondence, and submit end of term grades.
  • Provide and create own music playlists, be prepared to learn audio or microphone technology with support by the chair.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Nationally recognized, current certification within group fitness or class specialty (ACSM, ACE, NASM, etc.)
  • CPR/First Aid Certified, current
  • Associate, Bachelors and/or combination of industry experience
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate learning of students/colleagues from diverse backgrounds
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to changing teaching schedules and situations
