MTI is looking for driven, collaborative, and innovative people to help us achieve our goals.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Facilitate the creation and management of a plan based on a budget and timeline agreed upon by the operational team that ensures the proper assignment of resources.
  • Manage project execution through MTI’s Up Front Planning Process, cross functional reporting, capacity planning and tracking of progress.
  • Guide, collaborate and influence operational leaders and process owners to ensure adherence to documented and agreed upon operational processes.
  • Manage project scope changes and control project deliverables through machine start-up.
  • Ensure development of Project Engineering Group through careful performance development plan design and support focusing on quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects through time sheet, vacation approval and budget creation and management.
  • Provide technical engineering leadership and support as required.
  • Facilitate weekly cross functional meetings and discussions to ensure adherence to the project plan and to support the creation of planning adjustments as required so that the project remains on track.
  • Prioritize and re-prioritize Department activities as needed.
  • Facilitate Problem solving activities within the department as well as throughout the operations team providing and implementing continuous improvement suggestions.
  • Support internal customers and suppliers including concept, design, purchasing, contract welding, and service.
  • Monitor department and company adherence to their respective business processes.
  • Support external customers by meeting or exceeding their expectations.
  • Manage internal customers and suppliers for effective Project Management communication and follow up from Project Managers.
  • Organize and maintain a weekly project review to ensure the review of each project and the communication of project status to the rest of the organization.
  • Organize and maintain a weekly departmental meeting for team building, consistent communication, subordinate feedback, and group training.
  • Ensure that decision making supports company strategy and goals.
  • Provide and manage resource planning with adequate and timely information for use by the rest of the organization.
  • Reduce costs via standardization, design re-use, material optimization, and improved project engineering process efficiency.
  • Monitor the organization for use and adherence to the Quality Manual.
REQUIRED SKILLS and COMPETENCIES * Demonstrated leadership proficiency and project management.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to ensure effective work across the global organization.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate across the global organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects at one time.
  • Experience with mentoring, coaching and/or training.

  • Experience/exposure in a Manufacturing Environment.
  • Proficiency in
Office computer skills. * Ability to read blueprints, structure BOMs, and timelines.
  • Experience in design, build, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), debugging, commissioning and start up activities of equipment.
  • Experience in use of a business system, Made-2-Manage (M2M) preferred.
  • Must conduct oneself with the highest level of professional and ethical standards.
PREFERRED SKILLS or COMPETENCIES3D CAD (Computer Aided Design)REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE * BS (Bachelor of Science) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Seven (7) – ten (10) years’ experience in a managerial role and experience in project and/or department management
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in project management; small to large ($1M -$55M project cost)
  • Lean certification and/or Six Sigma Black Belt certification and experience
  • At least three (3) years’ plant management experience

This cross-functional leadership position will manage the Project Engineering Team and project plans based on the budget and timeline as set by agreement amongst the operational leadership and ensure the proper assignment of resources to each project.This newly created position aims to cement cooperative working relationships across all operational functional areas. Implementing proven skills in operational, business, and strategic planning, as well as financial management, the incumbent will strengthen the operational team to achieve efficiency and quality gains. Facilitation of resource planning discussions and project timeline creation will nurture effective communication and ensure timely project delivery. This position will manage, track, and monitor impactful data that supports operational leaders in their journey to strengthen their leadership and business acumen.Focusing on the Project Engineering group, this position is responsible for ensuring the Project Engineers shepherd projects through design, manufacture, installation, and obtaining final acceptance of friction welders and special tooling and handling equipment from our customers. This process begins with the acceptance of a proposal or purchase order. The project engineer works closely with customers, vendors, and MTI personnel to ensure timely and profitable projects by applying their knowledge of machine design and manufacture where needed.
