- Conduct routine patrols of hallways, buildings, parking lots, and grounds to maintain a visible presence and deter unauthorized activity.
- Respond to incidents, including medical emergencies, safety concerns, and suspicious activity; act as first responder and provide basic life support and first aid as needed.
- Enforce College policies and local laws; observe and report violations, disturbances, or other irregularities.
- Lock and unlock buildings and rooms; manage access control and monitor traffic and parking.
- Maintain open, respectful communication while assisting campus visitors, students, and staff.
- Support and participate in campus emergency preparedness drills and staff/student emergency procedure trainings.
- Apply incident command protocols during serious incidents; establish scene control and serve as liaison with law enforcement and emergency responders.
- Stay current on the College’s Emergency Management Plan and participate in post-incident debriefs.
- Identify and report maintenance-related safety or security concerns; escalate issues to the maintenance team when appropriate.
- Assist and mentor the Student Security Team as needed.
- Provide remote support to other campus locations as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely records, including incident reports and documentation supporting Clery Act compliance.
- Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by the Clery Act.
- Proficient in verbal and written communication, including radio dispatch and report writing with proper grammar and documentation.
- Ability to operate security technologies, including computers, surveillance systems, and access control tools.
- Ability to conduct visual and auditory surveillance, physical patrols, and building security checks across varying shifts and weekends.
- Trained in emergency response, including administering medical aid, evacuating individuals, and navigating obstacles and confined spaces.
- Knowledgeable in security principles, emergency management planning (NIMS, COOP, COG), and institutional policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated teamwork and problem solving abilities; ability to work under pressure in dynamic and challenging situations.
- One (1) year of related work experience within a security/law enforcement setting.
- Eligibility for a Wisconsin Concealed Carry Weapon license.
