Job Title: OperatorShift: 3rd Shift (Mon-Fri 10pm-6am)Hourly Rate: $18/HRPosition Overview:The Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating production and cleaning machinery. This role involves operating the hydraulic press, lab equipment, and industrial sweepers while supporting quality assurance processes. The ideal candidate must follow safety protocols, maintain cleanliness, and ensure data accuracy in quality systems.Key Responsibilities:Operate Press:
  • Operate hydraulic ram to press tobacco into containers.
  • Raise ram and remove filled containers.
  • Read and interpret scales to ensure correct product weight.
  • Insert paper liners, fold flaps, and feed boxes into banding machine.
  • Collect moisture samples as prompted by the LeafPoint system.
  • Accurately input data into the LeafPoint system.
  • Send moisture samples to the Quality department using pneumatic transport with correct sample tickets.
Operate Grinder in Quality Control Lab:
  • Receive sample tubes from packing or client’s supervisors.
  • Grind tobacco samples, barcode containers, and extract CPA analysis portions.
  • Hand samples to Quality Control personnel.
  • Clean the grinder after each use to prevent contamination.
  • Inspect grinders daily for sharpness, blade clearance, and functionality.
  • Measure and record moisture levels accurately.
Quality Lab Support:
  • Conduct tests on tobacco and by-product samples to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform analyses for characteristics like stem length, lamina/stem ratio, and non-tobacco related materials (NTRM).
  • Record results using scales, lab equipment, and systems such as QUIMS.
  • Follow protocols outlined in the client’s Quality Manual.
Operate Industrial Sweeper:
  • Operate industrial sweeper to maintain factory floor cleanliness.
  • Ensure the sweeper is maintained and properly serviced.
  • Empty dust collector into appropriate disposal units.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness and report issues to maintenance.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols while operating machinery.
  • Note: Operators are subject to random toxic substance audits.
Cleaning Duties in Designated Areas:
  • Sweep and clean assigned areas, removing foreign materials and debris.
  • Dispose of floor sweepings in designated metal bins.
  • Maintain area in compliance with 5S3R cleanliness standards.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager to support production and quality operations.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing, lab, or machinery-operating environment is a plus.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic computer/data entry skills (e.g., LeafPoint, QUIMS).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
Working Conditions:
  • Physical role with standing, lifting, bending, and walking required.
  • Exposure to tobacco products and lab chemicals.
