- Lead development and execution of computational plans in line with defined research problem statements within discovery and contribute to the human genetics team’s effort to apply human genetics to impact program and portfolio decision-making across Eisai’s global R&D sites, including target identification, target validation, biomarker discovery, and patient stratification strategies.
- Oversee internal data pipelines and resources for computational analyses in collaboration with internal/external teams
- Present analyses/results to relevant stakeholders in comprehensible and readily actionable formats
- Report scientific results in patents, publications, regulatory documents, and product-development reports as applicable
- Actively contribute in project teams, panels, technological platforms, and meetings; collaborate with other groups
- Work with the human genetics team to identify, initiate, and execute collaborations with academic, biotech, and other pharma partners leveraging machine learning and AI approaches to produce insights capable of impacting program and portfolio decision-making
- Interpret, integrate, adapt and present complex scientific findings to make recommendations for critical project decisions
- Scout emerging research and technology landscape related to own area to identify relevant new approaches/technologies, particularly in the areas of machine learning and AI, and present case for adoption within Eisai.
- Train and mentor teams on emerging scientific aspects and research processes/technologies
- Academic/PhD in computational or related life-science field with 5+ years of post-doctoral experience in relevant technical field (industry or academia) (OR) Combination of equivalent education & experience
- Experience with programming languages (e.g. Java, Python, R); relational or other databases (e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL, NoSQL); tools and databases (e.g. PLINK, coloc, ENCODE, ENSEMBL, etc); cloud services for storage and computing; commercial and public biological databases; high-density data types and relevant external resources
- Strong publication record in high-quality journals, references, and external presentations demonstrating relevant experience Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role
- Experience mentoring others in team
