Calculate, measure, and document appropriate values on the tests performed for review and interpretation by physicians.
Perform diagnostic carotid arterials and venous studies of upper and lower extremities and venous studies of patients with suspected peripheral vascular disease by following ICAVL guidelines.
Explain procedures to patient to obtain cooperation and reduce anxieties of patient.
Review test results with interpreting physician.
Communicate with physicians, managers, and co-workers as appropriate about changes in patient's clinical conditions while undergoing echocardiogram.
Conduct vascular laboratory studies in accordance with the vascular laboratory protocols.
Maintain the vascular laboratory quality assurance database.
May perform therapeutic procedures such as peripheral compression.
Prepare and maintain operational logs.
Ensure that all vascular laboratory studies are scheduled in an appropriate manner to satisfy the clinical situation.
Calibrate and maintain equipment and orders supplies when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.Must possess an excellent working knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary anatomy/pathology, the cardiac patient, and treatment of cardiac diseases.
Working knowledge of vascular arterial and venous anatomy for carotid and peripheral vasculature.
Excellent communication skills.
Good computer skills.
Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
QualificationsRequired Education and Experience
Associate degree in related field preferred.
Successfully passed the Echocardiography Registry Exam required.
1 year related experience in an Echo/Vascular Laboratory preferredRequired Licensure and Certifications
Current/valid certifications from the following list required or Preferred:Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Cardiac Sonographer Required (only 1 required)
Registered Vascular Technologist preferred
Registered Vascular Sonographer PreferredRequired Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training
Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries or complaints from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Computer Skills: Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, Internet navigation, database management, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and graphic presentation packages.
