
Machine Operator - 2nd Shift

- Set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and NC/CNC machinery such as lathes, mills, grinders, shapers, and drill presses
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, manuals, and sketches to determine machining steps, tolerances, and dimensions
- Mark, measure, and prepare materials using layout tools to guide precision machining
- Install and align fixtures, cutting tools, and accessories for proper operation
- Calculate machining parameters and enter control settings or CNC commands to ensure accuracy
- Monitor machine operations and make real-time adjustments to address malfunctions or tolerance issues
- Perform in-process and final part inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments
- Assemble machined components into finished assemblies, ensuring correct alignment and function
- Conduct trial runs and test parts to validate machine setup and programming accuracy
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve design or machining issues
- Use welding equipment to fabricate or repair metal components (as needed)
- One to three months related experience and/or training in machining or mechanical work experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and use measurement tools
- Basic math and spatial reasoning skills
- Completion of coursework in machining, manufacturing technology, or related technical program
- Familiarity with CNC programming or editing
- Welding experience or certification
- Experience developing or using jigs, fixtures, and shop aids
- Employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
