DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides day-to-day coordination and liaison between the Maintenance Department and Narragansett Bay Commission’s Operations Department involved in 7-day/24-hour, computer controlled, continuous processing/treatment of wastewater. Responsible for handling corrective and preventative maintenance items, including fleet management duties. Reviews, verifies and troubleshoots all Service Requests submitted by NBC Sections in the Field’s Point district. Plans all WWTF repair and maintenance activities to achieve minimum disruption to plant operations. Schedules any required coordination with other NBC shifts/departments, outside vendors, on-site contractors, etc. Converts Service Requests into Maintenance Work Orders using a computerized database in a timely/accurate basis. Updates information as changes occur and oversees the close-out of Maintenance Work Orders when work is completed. Makes prompt and accurate responses (telephone, E-mail, data exchanges, etc.) and/or written reports to a variety of internal/external requests related to maintenance work order data, information, status reports, etc. Coordinates the scheduling/planning of maintenance tasks based upon the availability of needed parts, supplies, materials and personnel. Reviews equipment manuals for proper preventative maintenance (PM) schedules, procedures and equipment operating supplies. Sets up PM schedules on the computerized Maintenance Work Order System. Monitors PM schedule and makes changes/issues work orders as required. Oversees the management and disposal of recyclable and waste products. Supports purchasing activities for long-range capital management needs and routine supplies needed for ongoing facility operations. Oversees training and record-keeping for in-plant vehicles and equipment such as forklifts, skid steer loaders, Bobcat UTV’s, etc. Coordinates inspections of facility health and safety-related processes and equipment such as fire extinguishers, first aid cabinets, risk management, etc. Provides technical training and development for junior-level employees on operations and maintenance functions via job aids and formal process manuals. Within skill and experience capabilities, perform other duties and projects as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma/GED and graduation from a two-year technical college and/or previous maintenance and/or five to eight years of WWTF operational experience required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: This position requires a thorough/practical knowledge of the methods, equipment, techniques and computer inputs used in wastewater treatment systems. Requires the ability to use a Personal Computer (Word, Excel, CMMS, etc.) to enter Purchase Requisitions as needed.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must obtain a forklift training license within one year of appointment.
