QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrate aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities.
REPORTS TO: Dawn Ryan, Director of MELCPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Summary- Responsible for the operation and instructional leadership at a daycare or preschool facility.
Primary responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day activities at a preschool and daycare.
  • Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
  • Develop academic programs.
  • Maintain rapport with parents.
  • Work actively with teachers to maintain high curriculum standards, proper attire and professional attitude.
  • Establish performance goals and objectives.
  • Explain or answer procedural questions to director.
  • Visit classrooms and observe teaching methods.
  • Examine learning materials.
  • Review instructional objectives and adjust accordingly.
  • Meet with other administrators to maintain proper preschool and daycare guidelines
Job Requirements: Minimum QualificationsSkills, Knowledge and AbilitiesSKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment and following instructional lead in a daycare/preschool facility.KNOWLEDGE Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include' concepts of grammar and punctuation; business telephone etiquette: and common office machines.ABILITY is required to be on time and responsible for specific part time hours; maintain a professional attitude and appearance. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups including children; maintain a safe environment for children; establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; working with constant interruptions.Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; providing information and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's services.Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% standing, 10% walking, and 10% sitting. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness
