Job Description:We are seeking a Certified Nurse Aide - Entry Level or Full Performance level. This position is responsible for providing direct patient care by performing a range of nursing support tasks in accordance with established guidelines and procedures. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.Qualified candidates will demonstrate outstanding communication skills, while adhering to our Mission, Vision, and Values.Required Qualifications:Prerequisite Qualifications for Entry Level: Candidates must have a fundamental understanding of personal hygiene and bodily care practices.Certification Requirement for Certified Nurse Aide: A valid State of Hawaii Nurse Aide Certificate is required, indicating completion of training from a state-approved program. This certification ensures proficiency in fundamental nursing skills, including vital signs assessment, output measurement, and recognition of abnormal symptoms. It also covers essential knowledge of the aging process, first aid, patient rights, universal precautions, infection control, body mechanics, and the significance of activities of daily living, such as nutrition, hygiene, and dressing. Additionally, it includes an understanding of restorative care, including assistive device use, range-of-motion exercises, bowel and bladder training, and proper usage of bedpans, urinals, and commodes, along with basic medical and nursing terminology.Prerequisite Qualifications for Full Performance:In addition to the entry-level requirements, candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience in a healthcare facility, such as a hospital or a similar medically oriented institution. This experience should involve observing and reporting various physical and mental symptoms and conditions, as well as implementing care and treatment procedures for a caseload of patients.Qualified candidates should demonstrate proficiency in essential nursing skills, including:
Monitoring vital signs, measuring output, and recognizing abnormal symptoms.
Applying first aid and adhering to patient rights and universal precautions.
Practicing infection control, proper body mechanics, and understanding growth and development principles.
Supporting activities of daily living (e.g., eating, hydration, bathing, dressing).
Assisting with restorative care through the use of assistive devices and range-of-motion exercises.
Understanding basic medical and nursing terminology.
Collaborating with the treatment team and assessing age-specific patient needs.
Providing direct personal care services independently, tailored to each patient's age-specific requirements.
Acceptable Substitutions: Completion of a practical nursing or professional nursing curriculum from an accredited school substitutes for the experience required for the full performance level.Certification Requirements: Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) is preferred.
