- Conduct intake assessments to assess disaster-caused unmet needs of individuals and families
- Triage disaster survivors by need
- Connect disaster survivors to a broad range of services and resources
- Help survivors navigate federal disaster assistance
- Develop individual recovery plans for disaster survivors
- Keeping detailed case notes and documentation in compliance with program guidelines
- The ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations, both verbally and in writing.
- Building rapport and trust with clients, fostering a collaborative relationship.
- Analyzing complex situations, identifying creative solutions, and making sound decisions.
- Working within multi-disciplinary teams to develop case plans for disaster survivors with specified goals and outcomes is strongly preferred. Certification as a case manager, as determined by the state licensing and certification board.
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) communication skills.
- Managing multiple cases, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines.
- Providing services that are respectful and responsive to the unique needs of diverse communities.
- Demonstrating a genuine concern for the well-being of disaster survivors.
- Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences, human services, or social services fields.
- Two years of prior experience in child welfare, emergency disaster response, and/or recovery environments.
